@The Post Office
Standing in line at the post office today to mail a package and overheard this lady in the back saying, “I just have to buy this one card…if only I could move to the front of the line!”
Her husband smiled gently. He was holding a leftovers box. Seemed like they were heading home after lunch.
It had already been 20 minutes. When I reached the front of the line, there were still 6 people between us, their heads buried in their phones.
I shouted to her, “Would you like to come to the front and pay for your card?” Her eyes widened and grinning, she exclaimed, “Really?!?”
She sprinted off past me, her husband tipping an imaginary hat my way. “Good things will happen to you,” she said as she made her way out the door.
They already did, I thought to myself.
